Hadley's 'Likes and Dislikes'

Hadley has been getting exposed to various baby foods in the past month or so. She likes rice and oatmeal cereal. She REALLY likes oatmeal cereal with bananas. She does pretty good with squash, carrots, and sweat potatoes so today we decided to give her a bit more variety....in the form of peas and bananas (separately, not mixed together. We're not sadistic). Here is the video we shot of her trying both:

2012 Border Battle

We just got back from a soccer weekend in Kansas City where Carson's team was playing in the 2012 KC Border Battle tournament, U-10 division. Whoever thought that an outdoor tournament, in KC, at the beginning of March was a good idea should be evaluated. It was cold and windy for much of the tournament and they played against some really good teams.

Carson's team won their pool and were placed in the final game against the winner of pool B, a team that scored 25 goals in 3 games while only giving up 3 goals. We were told that they were the premier KC U-10 team in the area.

Our boys tied this other team in regulation to force a penalty shoot-out. Our goalie blocked the third attempt by KC Fusion however all other players made their shot. Carson was the last to kick on our team; the only lefty amonsgt 4 other right-footed players. Here is the winning shot:

Carson's team won the game and he was promptly mobbed by his teamates:

After the game, Carson told us that he was nervous going last but knew he had to make it or otherwise, 'I would be dead meat with my team."
Here are the winning smiles. Congratulations, boys. Two trips to KC and two gold medals. Not too bad at all:

Hannah's First Cheer Performance

I took these pictures a few weeks back and just discovered them, so I though I would share. Hannah had a cheer performance at Pius High School along with the other girls/groups from her cheer school.

Here she is showing off a step on the floor routine portion:
Hannah is a 'flyer' which basically means she is the girl on the top of the pyramid (albeit a small pyramid for this age). Here she is waving to round out the routine:

Hannah's First Performance

Hannah had her first gymnastics performance yesterday. We are so proud of how she did! Here are a few photos of her day:

Here she is stretching prior to her routines. This was the first time she was able to wear her Nebraska School of Gymnastics competition outfit.

Here she is on the beam. Usually, they practice on a lower beam for her age group but with a spotter right there, they gave the 'big girls beam' a try.

Hannah doing a cartwheel during her floor routine.

Here she is getting her medal and 'saluting' at the end of the performance. She had a great time and we were very proud of her!!

At the Hill

Yesterday (Saturday), was the day or two after the first real snow of the year so the kids and I decided to hit a local sledding hill. Here are a few photos of the kids having some fun:

Carson after a run. He took a friend along and they spent the time building, and hitting, a sled jump that would launch them a few feet in the air.

Hannah posing for the camera. She started out a little timid and not wanting to sled. Then she started on the bottom of the hill, gradually working up to the full slope. Standby though, that's not all.......

Carson hitting one of his first constructed jumps. Toward the end of the day, he was really getting some air.

After getting up the nerve, Hannah turned in to my Kamikaze kid. Here she's captured getting some air on one of Carson's jumps!

Before we left the slope, we took the opportunity to take a photo of the kiddos. I've learned over the years to snap pitures at times they aren't fighting with each other! Here is one of those moments.....

Gretna Roughnecks

Here are a few photos from Carson's game against some Omaha team.  Carson is playing up on the 10's for Gretna this year.

Looking for the cross.

Striker left.....no goal on this one.

Striker left.  Bad focus by Dad; Good goal by Carson.

Pressuring the defense.
The fall season is over however winter indoor soccer is just around the corner.....where the game is played on a field surrounded by a barrier somewhat like a hockey rink.  The boys can pass it off of the wall to each other or themselves which adds quite a dynamic to the game!  Great season Carson.  Keep up the good work.
